Arakawa-ku is a north-eastern ward built around value, access, and local daily life. Nippori is useful when Yamanote access, airport transfers, and east-side movement matter; Machiya offers local daily life with practical routes and less pressure to chase a famous name; and Minowa and Mikawashima help keep the search practical before room size has to be cut. Nippori, Machiya, and the Minowa side are all useful when price, train access, and local daily life matter together.
The real value here is in the route and the daily errands, not in a glossy area image, so it is worth judging the ward on that basis. Compare Taito, Kita, Bunkyo, and Adachi if the station or the commute does not feel quite right.

Working with Tomo and his team at AtHearth made my move to Tokyo so much less stressful and so much more successful than it would have been otherwise. I had good Japanese but had never lived in Japan before and had an unusual visa/salary situati...
